5. Competition Events

(1) Competitive Kite Competition

① Kite Fighting

② Sport Kite Compulsory(Team)

③ Sport Kite Ballet(Team)

(2) Characteristic Kite Exhibition

All sorts of traditional kites are allowed to participate.

6. Method of Participation

(1) Kite organizations and clubs as well as individuals from all over the world are entitled to send teams to participate and each team shall be composed of a maximum of 4 kite fliers

(2) Each team is allowed to enter no more than 2 kites to each event of the Characteristic Kite Exhibition.

(3) No more than 20 teams are accepted to the Sport Kite events(Compulsory and Ballet).

7. Method of Competition

(1) Competitive Events

① International Sport Kite Rules and Judges’ Book manipulated by IRBC shall be adopted for the sport kite compulsory and ballet competition.

② Draw-lots for the Fighting kite competition shall be organized at the designated area and single round robin system(best 2 out of 3) shall be used.

(2) Judging Criteria for the Characteristic Kite Exhibition:

① Prize for the Longest Kite: competitors shall fly their kite freely at the specific period of time(60 minutes) at the specific area designated by the organizing committee. The actual length of the kite flying above the ground shall be measured and recorded.

② Prize for the Largest Kite: kites shall be judged on their actual wind areas.

③ Prize for the Best Soft Kite: kites shall be judged on their appearances, colors and wind areas.

④ Prize for the Best Performance: kites shall be judged on their appearances, posings, colors and the overall impressions.

⑤ Prize for Best Traditional Kite: kites shall be judged on their drawings, appearances, raw materials, overall performances etc.

(3) All participators shall show up at the check-up area 15 minutes before the start of the competition, be guided into the competition area by judges after check-up and start fly in order.

(4) All competitors should abide by the judges in case of clash or twist, otherwise shall be regarded as technical foul.

(5) Anybody who asks for re-fly is requested to file a written application to the head judge. Subject to his/her approval, re-fly should start without any delay.

(6) No change is allowed for the nominal and event entrance upon confirmation.

(7) All competitors should wear the numbers allocated by the organizing committee.

8. Ranking and Awarding

(1) The first 3 places of each event of the competitive event competition shall be awarded and the team with higher accumulative points shall be the winning team. In case of 3 or less than 3 kites, 2 or 1 places shall be ranked and awarded. The cups shall be presented to the winning teams.

(2) Prizes for the Characteristic Kite Exhibition:

① Prizes for the Longest Kite: 3 kites

② Prizes for the Largest Kite: 3 kites

③ Prizes for the Best Soft Kite: 3 kites

④ Prizes for the Best Performance: 3 kites

⑤ Prizes for the Best Traditional Kites: 3 kites

9. Expenses

(1) International travel expenses shall be borne by competitors themselves while the organizing committee shall provide competitors with local transportation and board & lodging during their stay in Weifang (from April 19 to 22, 4 days).

(2) Pickup service shall be arranged at the Qingdao Airport and Weifang Airport as well as Weifang Railway Station and Weifang Bus Station.

10. Jury and Judges

Jury and Judges shall be nominated by the IKF Secretariat and Chinese Kite Association on basis of consulting the Weifang International Kite Festival organizing committee.

11. Entry

(1) All competitors are requested to fill the Entry Form and send it by mail or fax to the Organizing Committee no later than March 20.

(2) Upon receipt of confirmation of entry and official invitation, please inform the organizing committee of the name, sex, age, occupation, passport number and arrival and departure time as soon as possible.
